Privacy Policy

Effective date: 11 October 2026

This policy explains how Carpenter Bill (the website at www.carpenterbill.com and the Carpenter Bill Android app, "we") handles your information. Carpenter Bill is a billing app for carpenters to create bills and quotations and share them with their customers.

1. Information we collect

• Account: your name, e-mail address, mobile number (optional) and password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account's name, e-mail address and profile picture.
• Business details you add: business name, phone, address, GSTIN, UPI ID and logo, which are printed on your bills.
• Your work data: bills, quotations, payments received, materials and rates, and the details of your customers (name, phone, address) that you enter.
• Plans and payments: which plan you have and until when, and payment records (amount, status and the payment ID). Card, UPI and bank details are entered on Razorpay's secure page and are never seen or stored by us.
• Technical data: IP address, browser or device name used to sign in, and server logs, used for security and to fix problems.

2. Microphone (voice input)

The app asks for microphone permission only for voice input, which fills in bill items when you speak. Speech is turned into text by your phone's speech recognition service (for example Google's), and only the resulting text is placed in the form. We do not record, upload or store any audio. Bluetooth permission is only used so a Bluetooth headset can be used as the microphone.

3. How we use your information

• To provide the service: save your bills, make PDFs, and keep your data in sync between the app and the website.
• To create share links for bills you choose to share. Anyone who has a share link can view that bill.
• To manage plans and payments, and to give support when you contact us.
• To keep accounts secure and prevent abuse.

We do not show advertisements, we do not use advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not sell or rent your data.

4. Who we share it with

• Google, when you choose "Continue with Google", and for speech recognition on your phone.
• Razorpay, our payment provider, when you buy a plan on the website.
• Our hosting provider, which runs the servers that store the data.
• Authorities, only when required by law.

5. Security and storage

All data is sent over encrypted HTTPS connections. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Access to the servers is restricted. On your phone, the sign-in token is kept in the device's secure storage.

6. How long we keep it, and deleting your account

We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time, from the app (Profile → Delete account) or on the website at https://www.carpenterbill.com/delete-account. Deleting removes your account, bills, quotations, customers, materials, logo and plans straight away, and signs out all your devices. Server logs and backups are cleared on their normal rotation, and records kept by Razorpay follow Razorpay's own policy.

7. Your choices

• You can see and edit your profile and business details in the app or on the website at any time.
• You can turn off microphone permission in your phone settings; the app works without voice input.
• You can ask us for a copy of your data or for help with deletion by e-mail.

8. Children

Carpenter Bill is a business tool and is not meant for children under 18.

9. Changes

If we change this policy we will update it on this page and change the effective date above.
